Tang poops so much. What do you guys do? Siphon out or leave there?

So just added a yellow tang to my tank. And this guy is a pooping machine. Do you guys siphon out the ppoop or just leave it there?

If you guys siphon, how do you guys do it. When i do my water changes i usually siphon out some detritus and at the same time some sand would get siphoned out. Any tricks for just siphoning out the crap and leaving the sand behind?

Btw i only have about 1.5 inch sandbed.

I have two clowns that don't make a poop mess.

I'd say either increase your sandbed to DSB stature, and get a few Tigertail cucumbers, or siphon. Or go BB and skim it out. Lots of options...just don't leave it there to rot.

Huh? You siphon out the poop every time? I don't do a thing and I guess it gets recycles and eaten by the snails or something because it dissapears.

I bought a few nassarius snails that pop out of the sand bed every time my pygmy angel poops. It gets devoured in under 5 seconds. I don't know what kind of nassarius they are but they are on the small side.

thats what your clean up crew is for. The snails, crabs, ect..all eat that stuff. If it is building up you need more of a clean up crew.

The snails don't just hang out on the glass mine cruize the sand and rocks. I have 50 in my 40 gallon plus 20+ random hermits and a tiger star and I have no "tang poo" and you do need to more sand on you sub because your aquarium will break down the sand into calcium over time.

Yes. And we buy some just about every time we visit our LFS.
We have tons of snails (Nassarius) that live in the sand and the only time we see them is when we feed the tank. Only a few glass cleaners, because I scrape the glass once a week. No hermits. I don't really like them. Emerald crabs & shrimp, though. They are great!

Thats what I always thought. I have plenty of clean up crew. I can't imagine chasing fish poop around with a siphon every time!
