Kwidjaya - Beware of this seller/business

Kwidjaya was selling a German skimmer (still is) that he obtained in trade from another member. He got it in trade for around $400 worth of goods and is now selling it for trades + cash.
On another thread he was looking for information, but those who replied got PM's from Kwidjaya trying to make a sale. Isn't that considered a "business" on RC when you only buy and sell? Anyway...

I worked out a deal with him to trade one of my skimmers + 2 pumps + $ for his Grotech skimmer. I took time off work this morning to meet him and when he showed up he suddenly changed the terms, stating "his wife didn't think it was a good deal". In addition I noticed that the supposed "New" skimmer had a repaired crack in the cup. I can't tell you how angry it made me but that's not why I'm posting this message.

Everyone who knows me on this board knows I always stand up for others and have a strong belief in both this hobby and RC. I even stodd up for Kwidjaya when racial remarks were made, which I still don't think is cool. I was willing to give Clark (aka Kwidjaya, aka Nemo [69 something]) the benefit of the doubt since I wasn't invlolved in his past dealings. Guess I'm just too nice but I should have listened to others.

Okay, before someone asks "what's your point" I do have something reef hobby related to say here. As a strong supporter of this hobby I find it intolerable that members such as Kwidjaya prey on others and claim to be a fellow hobbyist. If anything, he is running a buy/sell/trade business using RC and other boards as his personal advertising source. Despite being a very shady business person with weak ethics, running such a business would be fine if he was at least honest about what he's doing. I don't believe he has the hobby in his best interest and is not the type of person I would ever deal with.

JMHO but I would recommend to anyone on this board to avoid any dealings with him. I won't get into name calling or bashing. My account of these events speak volumes.

I can share all the PM's we exchanged but that's not the point.

It's a shame you had to deal with that kind of run-around, kenfuzed.

I've had to issues with Kwidjaya when I was selling something. I have since chosen to ignore his PMs and other communications.

Well luckily his past and present caught up with him and he's been shown the door. I'm sure he will be back under another name (like his wife's) but I've learned to be more cautious.

Kwidjaya is actually selling F18-Hornet's 150 gallon glass tank on recycler.com right now. I almost bought it from him and realized he only bought it for $300 from F18-Hornet and he's trying to sell it for $500. Still a good deal, but I'd rather spend another $600 more for a new tank setup. I think he's also trying to sell some metal halides on recycler as well.

I just read some of that thread and see that my user name was used because the 69 was left off to make it easier to type I assume. I am not affiliated with this guy in any way shape or form. Just wanted to make sure you all knew that

I realize most of the antics this guy has tried to pull off
is scandalous.... but buying low and selling high is not one
of them.... I bought some stock a few months ago for about
$1000 - I sold yesterday for $2500.... ain't capitalism great!

..but buying low to sell high on purpose is considered a business and this is not the place for it.

Good point, however half the sellers on RC do it or at least dream of doing it.

True, but you didn't have to lie to make your profit. Not only is it considered a "business" by RC his tactics are unethical. His MO is to tell other hobbyists stories of really wanting a deal because he's short on cash or wants to set up a new tank, or even replace a broken piece of equipment. Then he turns around and sells the same item on other boards or Recycler for a profit. Capitalism, you bet! Honest, not even close.
I was informed recently that Carter sold a tank he just bought off another OC reefer for double, and stated he was selling because he was getting out of the hobby. His name may be gone from RC but he is still in operation.

This hobby is already expensive enough and filled with misinformation. Our hobby is only hindered when snakes continue to take advantage of others. I have nothing against profits, but deceiving others takes a thief. I've never made a profit from this hobby but that's just me. I have a job already so what I do here is for pleasure and not profit. When I sell old equipment the money goes right back into the hobby.

With that said, anyone want to buy a bridge

Kwidjaya was trying to sell a tank setup (link below), and within this thread, Finding Nemo 69 (who he says is his wfe) makes the comment below

"Oh wow...very nice tank indeed. Great Deal too.

People need to jump on this deal hurry.

How deceptive can you get.

Kicked off, asked to be removed, temporarily removed. I'm not sure which. I checked and noticed that tag next to their names.

I'm late, but sorry that I didn't mention that he said it was his and he's had it for a while. When he only bought it like a month ago and just turning it back around and selling it. He didn't know much about the tank at all, couldn't describe anything specific over the phone.
