Crocea vs. Maxima growth
I've kept a maxima and crocea for three years. Both were purchased at about the same time and same size of three inches. The strange thing is that the crocea seems to have reached full size at six - seven inches while the maxima hasn't really grown at all. The maxima has full extension and a strong shadow reflex but just doesn't grow. They're both next to each other and about 10 inches directly below a 250 de hqi lamp. The aquarium has several large feather dusters that are several years old so I'm assuming nutrients are present for consumption.
Do maximas grow VERY slowly? |

I don't think my maxima even gets 1/16 an inch per month. Certainly hasn't grown an inch in 16 months, let alone three years. Perhaps I should start bowl feeding it phyto.

My little maxima has put on probably 1/2" of shell in a year, but it was only about 1.25" long when I bought it.
