Check out the "Alaska Reefers" in the clubs forums (West region).

AFAIK, it's just moose up there, no people

If your roommate lives in Alaska, wouldn't that mean you do too?

Why do you want to live in Alaska? It's freaking cold there!

Sounds like the perfect reason to move there, IMO.

I have lived in Kodiak for 3 years and Homer for 1 year. I loved my time up there and look forward to going back there. If you have specific questions let me know. I have spent a little time in Valdez, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Anchorage. Each region is different up there, so a location as to where you are thinking of moving would help with the information given. As a basic piece of advice: If you love the outdoors (hunting, fishing, hiking, etc.) you will love AK, otherwise you will probably not have much fun up there.

What is this 7F you speak of?

Get it right, it's -25 with the wind chill. That's cold enough to freeze the snot in your nose when you breathe in.

I wonder if that is -25C??? With windchill, it isn't too hard to get really low. I found that out working on a ship up in AK. We got windchill temperatures in the negatives a lot.

They pay people to live there, so what does that say about the place?

Winter Break, he has gone home for the break.

Juneau, Alaska. Normally does not get below 30 degrees.

Im hoping to move to Alaska for a Job with the State Troopers. I hope it all works out. Alaska is BEAUTIFUL, the people are great, and it is not a waist land. Russia sold it to us, thinking it would be waist land...to there surprise it is everything but that. I really hope this works, I WANT IT SO BAD!

Thanks,

Josh
