Overflow design, see pic

I REALLY want to drill my tank, Oceanic said that it wasn't tempered glass, so I should be good. So in the meantime I am a newbie working on converting an AGA into a Reef Ready aquarium. Here is what I have come up with:

The design would eliminate the real estate taken up by an overflow box and provide for efficient surface skimming. Normal "exposed" bulkhead design reduces surface skimming and causes a lower water level in the tank. I am kind of stumped on figuring out the length=flowrate thing. Anyone with any advice?

I had the same idea and even drilled the holes, but ended it up with this

If you go with pvc, maximize your surface skimming by running the horzontal piece the length of the tank. Tie it in to your bulkheads: bulkhead - 90 elbow turned up - tee -horizonta off each end. Essentially what you've shown, but with horizontals off each end as well.

Consider cutting a wide slot running the lenghth of the horizontal instead of teeth. You'll get better skimming and greater possible flow. Use gutter guard instead.

Paint it black with krylon fusion or the rustoleum equivalent, and you'll likely be happy.

good luck.

Pics when done!

Bump^ I'd like some feedback on this also. Seems like a simple yet effective design.
