Sorry for the lack of updates, but there aren't any yet. I've been working like crazy and it has been raining for two solid months (no exaggeration!). I don't have a suitable garage, so I have to build this outdoors. They're forecasting rain through August and into September.

Just as soon as posible, I'll post an update.

mark, I saw your rcsd sketches in the prior thread. You need an side intake for water into the air exhaust or the rcsd will open an air flow and never close again.

Um, no. When the water surges back in, it fills the vent. This is how RCSDs are made.

I just realized something. I'm going to have to build this, test it and then sell it. I did not factor the width of the doors in my house when I designed it. If I build it inside, it will never leave and if I build it outside, it will never enter. Hmmm.... Now what?

Can you reduce the height to the width of your widest door or window frame--both windows of a side by side window unit can probably be removed.

Now that's funny! Not laughing at you but with you.

I once had a tank designed and ready to start building opnly to realize that the door that I thought was 32" (didn't measure..just kindo assumed) ended up being 30".

Another one i didn't think to see what the support under the floor looked like until right before building...realized I would have more money in reinforcing the floor than in the tank itself

How far off are ylou from making it through the door? If it's less than 4" you can prob yank the door and jam and get it in. you can put everything back on and look like nothing ever happened

Yeah i tried gluing two, 2 liter bottles together for school (we were making rockets) and at first i used gorilla glue and i pressure tested it and it leaked like crazy because of all the little bubbles that formed when it dried. I ended up using fiberglass. But doesnt the liquid nails just act as a gasket and to just hold it while you drill it? And i was thinking about making a small frag tank with wood but could you just bush on fiberglass resin and not use the fiberglass sheets? The tanks only going to be about 30 or 36 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 12 inches tall.

I agree, see if it will fit with the door and frame removed. Not a difficult job to remove it and put back.

I'm also building a 450g plywood and I measured mine twice to ensure that I didn't build the tank too tall. But, I've only got about 1/2" clearance, so hopefully everythings nice and square on the tank.

If you have a sliding glass door on your house, like a back patio, you can easily remove both the sliding door section and the fixed glass section giving you a dounble door width opening. Did it for a big couch once - really easy.

I have the same issue with the stand I am building for my new tank. Once I install the shelf around the top, it will not fit. Without the shelf, it will barely fit. I am going to have to make the shelf removeable. Not really a big deal, just glad I decided to measure the door frame 1 day for kicks.
