Should I remove this?

I just noticed this calcarious algae growing on my Blue maxima. It grows pretty fast and is gettting pretty big. Is it harmful to the clam?

If you can remove it easily then I would do so , also I would be inclined to move it away from the hammer head just in case it gets stung .

I may be wrong, but I've never heard of any clam getting stung by any coral. If the hammer appears to both it, move it. If you can remove that growth off, go for it just try not to damage the clam.

Clams can be easily damaged by most corals. I would move it asap. I don't think that the algea will do damage to the clam. But hey I would play it safe and remove it.

Do you have any proof? I've seen clams covered by corals and they are far from easily damaged. If they can survive anemones, I doubt there is much else that could even harm them. I had an anemone live on the side of one and it never bothered it.

I'm with you Jay 24, one of my Crocs is right next to a Hammer, and is regularly brushed by the tentacles. No damage at all and they've both been there for a while.

Even had a Crocea fall into a RBTA with little ill effect (was closed for about 2 hours and that's it).
