aluminum sump
I just got finished building my first sump. I used a 29 gal glass aquarium. It works great. My next project is to build a custom sump. I cannot find a glass aquarium that suits my needs. I have access to aluminum and the means to fabricate about any thing. My question is there any negative affects to using aluminum for sump construction. Thanks

As far as I know you really don't want metals in the system. I would reframe from working with that unless it's to "brace" something and not in the actual water, I'm sure more people have better thoughts on this than I do.

yikes! Aluminum can't be used in a saltwater tank. It will corrode and kill everything. You may be able to use it if you coat the inside with fiberglass or something, but it seems like a waste. Aquariums are cheap....why not just buy one to use as the sump?
