zoanthids + power compacts = ? (pics)
Recently, I have added some zoanthids to my up-and-coming reef. They share space with some star polyps, mushrooms, and xenia.
Everything has been looking great. My water parameters stay great without much work. The question is, how many have you have had success with zoanthids with power compact lighting? Note: pics were taken 15 mins after lights came on today, so not all polyps are open! |

i had zoas for awhile now... not too long but its doing its job. i have a 48'' jbj PC but my tank height is only 17'' so i guess it does have enough lights.

I have zoas under PC lighting in my 30g (160W) and 5.5g (80W), and some under 30W of NO fluorescent in my 21g (though the tank does get some sun as well). These guys are very forgiving of lower light levels, don't worry about a thing. Yours are gorgeous
Here are some of mine:

They grow fine for me. I use 3 90's over a 50 gal. They are: 1 dual daylight and 2 dual actinic from current-usa.

Not the best zoanthids or pics but these are my better ones. They've been doing fine in my tank for about a year now under 2 96 W PCs. The PCs I have now are current sunpaqs, one 10,000/6700k and one 10,000k/ 460nm actinic combo. The last 2 pics are located at the bottom of the tank.

All of my corals (not just my zoos) are under PC's. Here's a few pics:
Here's my red/orange zoos when we first got them: Here's the same ones less than two years later:
