Torches. Other Euphyllia are great, but torches just always seem to die no matter what I did with them. I have the Torch-Touch-of-Death.
And, on the goniopora (both flowerpot and regular), while I've sold them, I've never been tempted enough to keep 'em.

Leathers for me, they do good for about two weeks, then after that It's a slow down hill to death.

Ricordia for me, they just shrivel up and linger until I give them away, then they grow like weeds in somebody elses tank.

For me its brains, either open or closed. I end up buying one every few months because I always think I will end up keeping it. I recently bought a gorgeous red and green favia and it is now sitting in my friends tank because it started doing badly in mine.

I would have to say birdsnest. Cant keep them to save my life but I have a very happy elegance. Now my Wellsophyllia is doing bad. I've had it for over 6 months and now it will open but my hippo tang will bit the ***L out of it. It spends most of its time under a clear bowl.

I'm in with the Flowerpot and Pink Birdsnest. Can't figure out why but atleast I see others having the same problem

i wish there could be some more info here to analyze each problem... birdsnest is usually easy- but it doesn't encrust very much just goes straight into vertical growth- it falls off its frag plug easily. try the ora birdsnest not a wild or mari variety... also try a xenia from captivity.
flowerpot is difficult try dt's every other day spot feeding with pumps off ... seen it thrive for month's and then go to a different environ and die. |

For the last year and a half it's been Blastomossa Wellsi. i had good luck with them for a very long time. But most simply fade out now after a few months.

They don't call me the Tort Slayer for nothing.
Blue Torts and Green Slimers - I've had the worst history with those corals. However, I have one of each in my tank yet again. Poor frags, they didn't do anything to deserve me.

For me it used to be SPS -- they would brown out, now it's zoas & xenia.
All SPS now have great colouration and PE, where as the zoas are looking bad. Think its the high turbid flow and low nutrients -- before hand it was the opposite way round. There must be a link! regards Conor. |

mushrooms just the regular ones i have ricordea doing great but mushrooms always die. I have zoos and leathers and rics but the shrooms are my downfall. This has been in two tanks now too. The first was a 75 gal. with halides and all the gadgets and SPS and LPS. i had one mushrooms just stayed shriveled but didnt die and wouldnt open or multiply now I have a ten gal. and now they die, but all the other softies love it.

For me it's millis. I've gotten a frag from a local reefer on two occasions. Does great for a while and then out of the blue starts loosing tissue at the base... A few weeks later I've got an empty skeleton. Other SPS such as a digi and tricolor are doing fine.
Also can't grow chaeto for the life of me. I've got a baseball size clump that hasn't grown for months. Tyler |
