Prodibio BioClean

Hey All,

I have recently started using the product mentioned in the thread title. Since beginning to use it, I've also changed my lights form halide to T5, upgraded my skimmer, and began to use GAC in a fluidizer/reactor. I have noticed my nitrates drop from 2.5 down to 0.2 - 0.5, and coral coloration/pigmentation seems to be improving. Note that the nitrate drop occurred before I upgraded my skimmer, so it's either the BioClean or the GAC, or both that caused this reduction.

I was wondering if any of you have had similar results, or what you feel about introducing and/or maintaining populations of different species of bacteria that are contained in this type of product.

I use the Prodibio product and although I will not stand here and spout that it is the 'magic cure' to SPS color and tank perfection, I do believe that it will do exactly what you have described. It has for me.

That being said, great husbandry remains of paramount importance. The use of this product or any other like it is not an excuse to not do water changes or overfeed.

This issue is complicated. I'm fairly skeptical about the utility adding various species of bacteria. Bacteria tend to spread well enough on their own. Adding bacterial food has been shown to change systems, although not always for the better. Personally, I wouldn't spend the money on this product, at least not yet.

I was trying this along with good husbandry. Weekly, I change about 18% of my water since I only have about 38 total gallons and I change 7. I thought that it would be interesting to try along with the other improvements in my system. The question is whether or not the populations of certain species of bacteria need to be reinforced periodically. I am no biologist, but I would imagine that some species can out-compete other species, and what is left over might not be entirely the best. But that is just a guess.

My NO3 has dropped from 20 to 10ppm so far since start of bio clean - I won't directly attribute it to the product, but I suspect. I also get crystal clear water for a couple days after adding either of the components of it. Anyway, you can click my red house where I note what it's doing to my tank

I would be attempted to add a refugium before using a manufactured product. A refugium adds to the bacterial population just as it adds to the invert population
