Phosphate remover and dosing two part
Hello, Tempted to use GFO and wonder has anyone use this while dosing the 2 part Randy's receipe daily. Any tips and trick to prevent Precipitation of CaCO3? Thanks, Shin.

I use the DIY 2-part and a GFO and haven't had a problem. There's not much that can be done, in any case, except to dose more 2-part.

Thanks John, Just picked up Salifert PO4, pH test kits today.
PO4 is 0 or nearly which I can't not tell. pH is somewhat 8.2. Wonder where is cyano came from, and should I run GFO? Thanks. Shin |

The GFO might help even with little PO4 in the water column. It might be able to outcompete the cyanobacteria for that nutrient. I'd probably try the GFO, personally.

You may notice the gfo becoming solidified, and turning a gray color. Mine does this, and on the outflow side of the Phosban reactor I have percipitate (CaCo3 I guess). I add a lot of two-part... gfo may be a contributor.

GFO media do tend to cause precipitation, but the effect is not limited to 2-parts:
