Edward - an LFS had AGE build them a bullnose 8x4 aquarium and I helped unload it the other day. Amazing work. They even built a custom frag rack that fit perfectly inside. Super creative folks over there, nice to see their work in person. I'd put their acrylic work up there with Envision (they also have a large Envision in there).

khoivo1 - sorry man never responded to your PM. I see you settled for a size, you will love it! Also, every high end pendant I've owned (Elos, Photon, Giesemann, Aquamedic, Sfiligoi) all came with the hanging griplock system. Works great.

hi ,,i already have the ATI t5 fixture,,,,from reefgeek .com
so all i need is the hanging kit,,,(don't like to hang the light on ceiling) fliger,,,what do you have for your water movement now?? iam thinking to get the vortech but saw that you are not too happy with it and make me sit back and think about it again now,, do you still have the wave box? i am thinking to get wave box instead of vortech but doesn't like the look of a box in the tank like that,,,mannnn i guess i need all your advice here, |

If i remember correctly Dav Fliger has 2 tunze 6201 and a wavebox in his system. He sold/trade/give away all his vortech lol. Wavebox sure don't look pretty in the reef tank. But it sure did make a very nice wave.
If your tank is the same dimension, 1 wavebox ain't gonna cut it. You need some type of directional flow i.e Stream or vortech.

let's get back to invincible thread shall we? I love sand but I'm going back to bare bottom. It's hard for me to completely vacuumed the sand since I have a canopy on top. It's easier for you to clean your sand since you are topless.

It is not hard to vacuum the sand as long as you have the right equipment. Your 3/4" tube should be perfect for the job. Now it is up to you to figure out how to use it...

Sound like a good plan till reality hit ya. Just like it does to Fliger. He has 3 or 4 vortech. He ended up sold all 3 and spent the money on Tunze. You need to think really hard of what you are trying to achieve. If you want crazy amount of flow like Edward or Fliger. You need to seriously consider tunze. I know it is ugly but ugly has it own unique way. uh Oh, i am talking about myself again .
Khoivo, why don't you start another thread so we can discuss about your flow and equipment without high jack Edward's thread. He is not too happy i think...

Your tank looks great. Definitely a minimalist approach.
Is it as dark as it appears in the pictures? And are the glass panels under the MH clean? It's hard to tell.

jnarowe, thank you! Im amazed at what a tripod can do. All this time, I have been shooting blurs!
Terry, thank you! marc, the glass under teh Mh's are crystal clear. I clean them about every month with water. I do have all my lights off in the house, but its not as dark. When I shoot at the tank, the surroundings get dark with the automatic feature I use on the camera. One day I will master the use of manual mode. |

The first picture seems darker than it needs to be. It definitely creates a mood, if you get what I mean. It's very pretty, but when it is that dark (to me anyway), you can't make out as much detail.

I have always loved your tank. It’s great that you just didn’t throw a bunch of rock in your tank instead you actually created some awesome aquascaping.

After taking off my Dart pump, I noticed that my chiller didnt come on all day yesterday. Was the Dart pump creating that much heat? My water stayed at 77 degrees all day yesterday and it usually runs up to 79 and then the chiller kicks in.
marc, no I dont know what you mean. Can you elaborate? jk Chris, thank you. I didnt see a problem then either. But when you get something better, you always notice your last faults. nugz, thanks! I really love it too. At first, I only liked the left side shot, but now I have a right side shot that I feel better abotu sharing even though there isnt much coral in yet. If I would of kept my last 100g with all my SPS, this tank would of been extremely full by now. Bill, thank you. elliott, I drained the water for those shots. mcrist, that was exactly my goal. I have always loved an open aquascape and a lot of real estate in the sand bed area. it looks more inviting and natural. bax, thank you. a 300g tank had always been my dream. I havent had any neighbors complain about the lights get through the glass door. It's not as bright as I thought it would be from the outside. GSM, its a doreensis (LTA). 2 of them sitting next to each other. |
