Premium onyx not looking so hot...?

He eats and looked good before...however now he just seems to be ill. The cheaks are sunk in and his dorsal fin is down? Should I just do a water change...or treat him with some meds? His diet is frozen brine and flake.

Thanks brandon

Any changes in your water quality or to your tank setup recently? How "sudden" was this change?

This is one of the new arrivals right? If so, I would get ready for a visit from Amyloo or Brook. Better safe they sorry and you'll likely see accelerated breathing tomorrow if it is the case.

If he is still eating, keep feeding him small/tiny portions frequently. If he breaks down, a little weight on him now is going to be helpful when he skips a few meals.

Hopefully it turns out to be something mild.

Good luck and post and update tomorrow.

My heater did go out and there was a change from 78 to 70.... And then back up again over the course of a day after replacing it.

I do believe that this played a role.

I've delt with brook many many times....but this seems to be a little different. It seems as though his spine is more visible as the skin around it caves.

hmmm....

Hopefully the little guy is already snapping out of it...

Eating but losing weight? I would treat for internal parasites, should be done at some point regardless.

More of a concern with weight loss, piscine tuberculosis(mycobacteriosis). Pretty sure when I have seen it, cysts/ulcers have appeared with the wasting away.

Ditto Traveller's advice
I would say with the "sunken in" look your describing it might be a infestation of internal parasites. I would start treating low doses for internal parasites (I've herd garlic can help too but cant say one way or the other)

If cyst's apear then I would look at tuberculosis
