Pacific,
Looking at your coral, the skeleton seems to be flabello-meandroid, meaning the colonies have valleys, but do not have common walls. Acanthastrea are mainly cerioiod colonies that have polyps which have common walls.
It's impossible to say for sure from a picture, but it looks like a Mussidae, possibly L.hemprichii or L. serratus though I wouldn't rule out the Faviidae Family. Maybe Oulophyllia bennettae.

Someone just pointed me to this thread. The coral we had listed as an Acanthastrea was sent to us under that name. Our intention was not to mislead anyone. We have changed the name of the coral based on an ID from brahm.

I referenced branm's id on the coral search page and agree with that ID. So Monstrea it is.

If you ever find a coral on our site that is mislabeled, please tell us.

Thank you,
Bryan Thompson

LOL...Chris, you will have to teach me how to take good pics like yours. I have never been a camera man myself.

Don't know why I get so excited about a camera. I should be excited about reef...Hope I don't get hook into another hoby here.

Very nice collection of acan you have John... As for the camera, you can't go wrong with Canon or Nikon camera...even in the point & shoot mode. Enjoy your new toy and keep more pics coming.

Hey John,
I'd like to know which is which as well. Or at least which ones came from me.

I think John is too busy taking photos to respond =).

On the other hand, that big acan I just bought, that was sold to me as your green and red Randy, I think is you red and gray. I have it next to my green and red and it looks nothing like it. I don't seen hardly any green in it at all. It looks just like your pics of your red and gray mother colony.

Randy,

The one in the second and fourth pics are yours.

Chris,

Your big colony IS the red and grey from Randy.

Yeah man, I shouldn't have, but you know how I am =). It looked bigger in the pics, and the color doesn't seem like the one from yours. In the pics he sent me it had no polyps out, then when I got there, no polyps out. He told me he had just moved it on both instances. However I got it in my tank and there are still no polyps out, and thats been a week or two I think now. The color is much darker then yours as well I believe.

I am glad to hear that my baby is doing good in your tank =). Hopefully I will soon be set up to take it. I want to get the 4 sps in my tank now out =).

I can keep them for you in my tank if you want. Just cleared out 15 colonies from the one downstair. I am going for a less rock/less corals look now for my SPS tank.

Bring them down here(I am trying hard to get you to go down here with your goodies....hehe)
