Oh ya I remember that one Anthony. Hey I don't doubt you at all. You and Eric are always the Top Vendors in the game when it comes to new Fad's in the hobby. I agree with you as well about the wholesalers jacking up the prices. I was looking at a list the other day and the Amount of Favia/Acans they had in stock were far more then this time a month or 2 ago and the prices were inflated as well. I'm just trying to get my feet wet

OK so is the price over inflated? i don't think there's any place with as many Acan phreaks as right here. would anyone pay $450+ for that piece? my vote: no.

Skinny, while you might be making less than we think you certianly didnt pay 450 for that piece wholesale, and i dont think youre going to fool anyone in this thread into thinking that, everyone on this thread is pretty much a seasoned reefer and know how the wholesale/retail end of things work.

Please dont think i am bashing you because that acanthastrea is a nice piece and im sure someone will pay youre price for it, and your website certainly has very nice corals, but when you describe items like favites/favia's with phrases like puffs up like acanthastrea, you are trying to cash in on a fad or someone who is ignorant and that to me is bad buisness practice

I don't because I already got four separated similar pieces....If there are not many LORDs coming in to the States in the future and fewer REAL Acan Echinatas (not the Favia/Acan for sale at LFSs now) available in the market, Acan hunters will jump all over what is available...Echinata is the much slow growing species so that redistribution back to the market can be feasible for a long time...Once again, law of supply and demand will run this market...

is the demand for echinata really that high? let's say you currently did not own a single echinata. would you pay $450 for that piece? would anyone here?

I wouldn't. Now if I were a Millionare and really wanted the coral and money was no object I would buy it. someone will and that's why the price will stay high until no one is willing to pay that kind of money or the supply is greater then the demand.

The demand for echinata is here, but it goes for about a 1/4 the price of a lord, based on what I have seen on ebay.

i totally agree with Jeff on the fad coral issue..the wholesalers are charging unbelivable price on these pieces..If you think my starting bid is high. the truth is that i am making a lot less on that coral then you think..I just love it when a person doesn't know anything would make comments like that..either they are jealous that they can't afford it or can't get it..or just being ignorant..

Yea I was at PAF on wensday, and I'd offer 250$ for a Piece of LORD 1/4 that size.. I wouldn't pay more then 150 for Echinata RETAIL... and For you information.... I can buy them at TONGS for that much!

and as for your little rant it's None of the above, I own 2 echinatas, I just spent 600 on lords in the last 2 weeks, and could easly buy your piece for double your asking price if I cared to. I don't care how much you paid for it. I can get them from another wholesalers for 39.00$ (when available)..and Last I checked you still owe me ten bucks from when you screwed me on the change last time I went to your house.
