That is just beautiful. Is that a Vlamingii Tang. The angel fish...they don't bother your corals. Not very often I see Angels in a reef tank. Thanks for letting me see it.

Gorgeous tank. How old is it and what equipment are you running?

First, I again say thanks for the Kudos,... & I will try to answer the questions. The tang that I believe you are referring to is a Unicorn Tang, not a Vlamingii. I try to select fish for my tank that you would not regularly see in every tank you look at. No Yellow or Purple Tangs, no Foxface, no Flame or Coral Beauty Angels, I try to have a more eclectic fish population. I love the angels, and find that if I keep them well fed, plenty of variety in their diets, that they pretty much leave the corals alone. The only thing I can't have is Zoa's, the Imperator eats'em up. To have the types & amount of fish that I do requires that I stay atop my water quality pretty well, so I do a 25 gallon change every 7-10 days, which is no big deal since I plumbed the system so that I can change up to 50 gallons with just a turn of one valve & the flick of one switch, without shutting down the system at all. The wall behind the tank is an outside wall, so all the plumbing goes thru that wall & into a outside, air conditioned tank room that I built that houses all the equipment. The 1hp Tradewinds Chiller, Deltec AP903 skimmer, Iwaki 100 return pump, Reef flo 5200 closed loop pump, 80 watt UV, Schuran Calcium Reactor, all the ballast for the 4 x 400MH's & 4 x 110 VHO's, & the 6 stage RO/DI unit with 2 x 55g barrels( 1 salt , 1 fresh) are all housed in this outside room, cooled by a 12,800 btu air conditioner. Under the tank is a 125g sump with a 3 foot refugium. Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks, Creighton

Great selection of fish. Usually goes overlooked in a nice reef aquarium.

I had 3 tanks pre-Katrina, 20g nano, 40g reef, & a 90g reef, lost them all in Katrina. This 250 went into planning right after Katrina, took my time, planned it right, took a long while to get all the equipment, had to wait several months for the custom made stand & canopy, but the rock, sand, & water went in the first week of March 2007. I will try to post some pics of my outside tankroom later this afternoon. I will also post some pics of some of the other fish in the tank, I have a beautiful Black Tang, but he is very camera shy.

Thanks, Creighton

I like your gold flake angel, black tang, mystery wrasse, etc. Have you ever thought about adding a queen angelfish?

I tried a Queen one time B4 in my other tank, but it didn't work out. I have not tried in the bigger tank, maybe something I'll take a look at.

i just want to say.. wow what a great tank... just a question, how would you feel about taking some of the rock out and giving your fish some swimming space above the rock? haha i know it sounds dumb, maybe the picture just doesnt give the amount of space above the rock justice... but besides that, amazing tank, youre doing great!

None of the rock touches the back of the tank, so the fish population can swim completely around the rock, as well as thru the many caves & openings in the aquascaping.
