You need to center the bulb inside the reflector.

anyways today i set up the MH timer
i have it all protected by gfci then the timer runs to a waterproof switchso i can turn it off easily incase of problom ( or what ever) without turning off the timer
then i also added a fan to the ballast box.
i cant decide if it is more effective to blow air in or to suck it out...
anyways it seems to stay cooler altho the bulb has yet to run more hten an hour
i think it all looks nice and the only problom i have is that the switch is upsidedown inside hte water proof box ( on is off and off is on) no way to know that till it was sealed lol

You should try and find a way to center the bulbs arc tube in the reflector to have it setup optimally. Looks like you could reposition the fixture bracket to center the bulb.

well alot has happend that set thi back quite a bit
car accident the main thing last month
and having 4 wisdom teeth pulled this sat ( all of witch were comming in at about 90 degree angle ( all facing hte front of my mouth... )
so any time i get between beingasleep from the pain killer and being sick from the antibiotic im out in the gradge trying to get small things done ( works out to 5 minutes or so before i have to sit down..) now while pain killer sleep sounds nice. sadly it isnt. its 5 minutes asleep tehn waking up then falling back ot sleep. so.... fun aint it

well last week i got a ac unit and made about 40 frag plugs.

as for the lighting in the tanks . all seems ok. i got chaeto growing between the frags and i got an aquaclear filter to help with surface scum ( couldent hang it off the side so i just set it in teh tank on a piece of eggcrate!

I had fully impacted molars like that. The had to cut the lower ones in half before they extracted them.

ok
been busy somthing is wrong withmy PC's screen ( cold cathrod tubes burnt out ... or thetransfprmer went bad... so im gonna use the lcd screen in a home made HD projector ) so for now im stuck on a linux laptop unable to load picts..

BUT!!! i now have my SPS tank up. so far i have about 10 frags in it doing 5 more today

also just had a 40 gallon or so custom acrylic tank ( scratch free and filter builtin to back) given to me by some guy who i helped out at the lfs i work at. im going to let the lfs keep the tank but i was thinking.. woulda made a nice non photosynthetic prop tank... then i remembered.. i still have a 75 gallon sitting emtpy in my room !

ill try and get some picts soon

i just picked up some nice coral frags from work. one being a tricolor acro. some of the nicest pieces iv seen in a long time... so... put them in my disp;lay tank till they are ready to frag.\
today i am fragging some seriatopora hystrix . the last 3 frags i did all died

ok growth rates suck.
could be because im uging 5.5 k bubls

so im changing the way i do things
im moving away fromt he full encrusted base idea with many branches and going to do the typical " chop glue wait a montha nd ship " deal that ora and everyone else does.
meaning majority of the tubs will now be used for mother collonies.

i also lowered teh light alot and will change hte bulb to a 6.5 k

i still plan to do the nice frags but will set up a small tank for it and will sell them for alot more.

as for hte zoas. they are growing slow. so again i lowered the light by almost 1.5 ft. if this dosnt help ill try replacing some bulbs with actinics or all of them.
