hang on back skimmer

Looking for a recommendation of some good hob skimmers that are $250 or less. I currently have to seaclone toy that is just not cutting it. Had been looking at a Turboflotor Multi, but wanted to see if there were any other suggestions. I do not have a sump so an in-sump skimmer is not an option. Any assistance/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I enjoy my prizm skimmer, others detest it... I have used mine for around a year now and have only had one problem with it. The air intake tube got calcium buildup on the bottom of it.

There are many good skimmers out there but I personally hate hang on back because they can overflow and cause a huge mess. In a sump you just have to deal with doing a water change.
Make sure you think it through you can get overflows and a sump pretty cheap.

I like the sump idea. You could get an overflow, make your own sump (if you have a 20 gallon tank laying around ) by an Octo NW 150 and still be around $ 250 or so. A much better skimmer and the benifits of a sump. If you are sure about the HOB then mabe an Octo HOB might be the one.

I agree that a skimmer in a sump has many benefits. My HOB is an AC Remora and I have liked using it.

I second pains recommendation, this skimmer does a excellent job. There are some fellow reefers who have it on a 75gallon and they are pulling 9 cups of skimmate, thats pretty impressive. You can get the skimmer at
