!!!Expensive Corals!!!

This subject sort of came up in one of the vendor experiences threads and I brought this piece up. I cant help, myself...I have to do it again. Is this for real? Makes me want to give up the hobby. Well...maybe not.

Check out zoo#1 on this site:

What are some of the most expensive coral specimens you folks have seen for sale commercially?

Thats just rediculous! I lose respect for vendors asking money like that for a piece. Thats just greedy.

But they say there are 250-300 polyps there...If you got enough people together to go in on it you could frag it and it might be worth it....

mane. I saw the blastos in your gallery and the other unidentified corals, etc in another thread (how are they doing by the way?).

How do I get on your good side and get some frags of those things. I'm just starting out and I need something that nice.

Thanks man. They are all thriving, fat, and fluffy.

I dont think I will be letting any frags go soon, though I have been considering fragging my unidentified red one for only a lordhowneis =).

I've seen the discussion about the lordhowneis in that other thread. Do you have a link to a picture of one? I'd like to see what these things look like. I wonder how much THOSE would cost?

It actually is a pretty smart idea. This is the second time you put up a link to the site. Whether anyone actually buys them or not is not relevant. You probably sent a few hundred people to the site that would not normally go there. Whether it generated additional business only they know. BUt I am sure they appreciate it.

Yes. It's true I put up that link buried in another thread as well. But I dont have any association with this place. I wanted to give it it's own thread because I find it so ridiculous. Plus it made me wonder how many other ridiculously expensive corals other people have seen. Nobody has really said anything about that.

FWIW, I have placed an order at Quality-Corals once (for some reasonable priced zoanthids), due to a lot of publicity I had already seen in this forum. And I got good service and nice pieces. There was a slight substitution in one of my pieces that was brought up in my shipment papers. Not a terrible thing, but being told about it up front would have been nicer. And one of the pieces (probably among the best of the ones I got) slowly lost it's polyps over the course of the first week that I had it. I contacted the vendor and told him about it, but he only made a couple of suggestions about how I might be able to save the 1 or 2 polyps that were left. Didn't really save the colony though. I dont think it would stop me from ordering from him again, though. When the time is right.

And Gooch-
I'm still waiting for your site to get a little more updated, especially with more zoanthid colonies that you might have available. I'm still hoping to place my first order through your place soon. Is it best just to get on waiting lists, or should I wait to see it available on the site? I've heard many many good things.

There you go!
