Red face Hydor K4s and 1/2inch glass!!!

So I got 2 Hydor Koralia 4s for my 150g tank with 1/2inch glass...

WIthout water in it, I tried to stick it and it does NOT seem to hold on tightly!

Will it hold better if submerged in water? Any suggesstions to improve the hold???

I think so, water is denser then air. People float in the Dead Sea.

A buddy has them on a AG180 without a problem and I think it is 1/2 glass.

i have the 3 on 1/2" glass and it barely holds on. but sometimes the outside magnet falls off and its still on really tight, the suction cups on it works pretty well

Hmmm.... The #3 that I have is a combination of a suction cup and magnet. I would think the #4 is made the same. I can pop off the back piece and it stays in place.

It is like one big rubber piece on the mount of the pump - I did not realize it was a suction cup at first myself.

I have the nano stream and I had to remove it to do some emergency save the fallen over snail behind the rocks move. When I pulled off the outside magenet my nano stream was held in place by algae with out the magnet hehe. It wasn't running but it was interesting to see it caked to the acrylic.

There is something wrong with your K4's if there is no suction ring around the magnet piece. They should hold fine for you on a 1/2" thick tank. They will be less heavy once the tank is filled and the force of the water being pushed will press them back against the tank.

It may not look like a suction cup but it is.

anyone have an issue with the Kor's magnet not penetrating through a painted background? Mine does not seem to want to hold with the magnet...at all. Thanks!

Take the rubber suction cup off of the magnet that sits outside the tank. Itll work fine.

I have the #3 and #4, they're identical except the #4 is bigger. they both have the suction cups. but it does work better if the outside magnet's plastic cup was removed. it helps the magnetic pull to be stronger.

Since the K4 is heavier, the maximum glass it will work is probably 1/2". Mine is 1/2", my K4 motor was rotating under its own weight but the pump did stay up there, so it will work on 1/2" just a very close call.
