Re-aquascaped tonight...what do you think?
I've been struggling with my aquascape for awhile. I liked the look, but it wasn't the best for coral placement, and the stack on the right was really unstable. We're talking, rocking in the current, don't even look at it wrong or it may topple over unstable.
So tonight I decided to say F it. It's more rock wallish, but I think I like. The tank's still a little cloudy, and my corals are a little grumpy...and I can't figure out a way to manually adjust the white balance on the new camera, but let me know what you guys think. Old New

FWIW the new one looks better IMO. The coral looks like a blasto to me

I like the new pic better. Looks more natural not just two piles. IMO

Front on the sand? Or front up on the rock? Front on the sand is a red blasto wellsi. Front on the rock is a watermelon favites.

Just kidding. I really liked the old look myself...it just wasn't working for me. Now I've got to leave everything be, and let stuff grow. And I think I need to start adding in some SPS frags...I said I wasn't going to do it this time around, but...

Once the corals open up, I think the second will look much better overall.

nicely done.
looks very natural. to me it looks like the perfect mix between the isolated reef pile look (mostly what the 'old' was), and the straight up 'walls' that so many people build. It's a nicely broken up shape with a distinct silhouette. also, I love how it has overhands as this creates shadows on the rocks which makes the overall image have more depth than when people just stack with a slope. |

I give my vote to the current aquascape. You tank looks a lot bigger than a 20 L. Very nice

From the pic I like the old setup better. I have always been a fan of the rock island look but I do agree that the new layout looks like there is more openness to the piles.

But i wouldnt say it looks more natural most of the places i'v gone scuba on if you swim away from the reef a bit it looks just like a pile of rocks, But i think you will be much happier with the new scape looks good =D |

Try boring out the large rock under the pile on the left. If you are timid about this I would trade it in for a rock or two of that size that are much more open. IMO large solid liverock is a waste of precious space and often hinders flow and design options. My $.02

I like the old one, but I can see how it would create trouble, I think you will like the new one better.

Yes, I think that the old one looks better also. when that happens to me I just rearrange again till I like what it looks like.

I like them both, but I think they would look better with a black background.
