Outer Orbit Docking Mounts

I have the 48" MH and PC 560W Outer Orbit Light. The docking mounts that came with it are only a few inches tall, making it nearly impossible for me to open the lids to my tank. The hanging/ceiling mount is not an option due to heating coils in the ceiling.

Do they make different larger legs for this unit or am I going to have to fabricate my own way of fixing this problem? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same light with t5's hanging from my ceiling. I wanted to tank mount it too until I saw how little clearance there was. I was going to cut an L shaped piece of wood to fit on each end of the tank, using them as risers for the mounting legs. But I ended up being a little concerned with how heavy and hot the mh's run that close to the tank. If I really had the time and handyman skills, I would mount the light to a stand that was a little wider than the tank, or behind it. If you could find something strong enough to support the weight behind the tank (like the wall) mount it there. I really love this light so I would recommend buying it.
