Does anyone else get the thin red growth ring on their Leng Sy?

I just noticed this, this evening. I am having a hard time getting a good **** of it becasue if it's placement in the tank, but here is the best I can do.
The bright red ring on the edge of the coral really is there, it's not from the camera.

Looks like its getting some good color. I have a frag that won't turn. I am running 10K but i think it needs a higher Kelvin rating to get the purple rim.

I have seen that red fringe on our corals before when we were running a lower kelvin bulb (especially when using an XM 10K fired off of an HQI ballast). It had something to do with the bulb and how light refracts off of the corals edge. The fringe was more pronounced depending on the viewing angle, in our instance.

Interesting sparkss, I've not had any luck under 250w 10k m80 ballast. I'm running some actinic for a couple hrs a day.

That's exactly what I'm running. I just noticed the ring today and just found it to be a little weird. Thanks for the input.

I too have noticed the red ring, mainly on purple monti cap edges. I noticed them the most when running 10k's. Makes it look like the edges are glowing. I agree with sparkss, something to do with the light refracting from the coral.

I would tend to agree with you, but my coral has the ring right now with the 10ks off. I have a Super actinic, Aqua Blue, Blue plus and 6500 T5s on the tank also. I am still getting it off the T5s so I can't attribute it to light refracting from the 10ks only.
