No offense but, I just don't see what all the hype is about. It's purple and it grows slow. Cool but not $150 cool.

yes its a cool looking coral, Yes i have a nice frag of it.........if your into the uncommen then it is for you. The coral is rare and does not grow fast at all so Frags take longer to grow. I happen to love mine becuase its purple and its a rare SPs. Also not to many people have the real deal so the real true tyree purple monster cost $$$$$$ I got mine from fragfarmmer who got it from tyree him self.
Michael
P.S. I will try and post a picture later.

I like how stubby & close together the branches are on the PM. Plus I think the purple is an amazing color.

Unfortunately, this colony is no-longer either. My experience with the growth rate was that initially it was slow, then once established it really starts to take off, and fragging it actually seemed to enhance growth.

As a large colony the pm is absolutely amazing!

Rich,

You had the largest PM colony I've ever seen in my life. It's an amazing piece.

I don't have an update shot, but in reference to it's growth rate, it took 18 months for a 1/4" nub from Rich, to get to this:

Crazy slow!

great job on growing it out Karl!

it was snookered in between a tort and some other acro's which made it difficult to get a clean shot. here's a few more just for grins.

Hey Marshal when you get everything settled into your new tank, I'd like to get a piece of PM from you.

The polyps on mine change color depending on depth in the tank and bulb temp/age.

A little info on the Tyree PM
http://www.dynamicecomorphology.com/stevepurple.htm

http://www.reeffarmers.com/limitedpurplemonstor.htm

And for those asking about why the price? Check ReefFarmers (the second link), it is reserved through March of 2012!

NP Gary, I may have to cut mine up to finance the restocking

Marshal
