Polyp size can be unreliable as an indicator. I have some dendros with 1/2" diameter skeletons and some with 1/4" diameter skeletons. I think that branching piece is a dendro similar to the one a guy posted a pic of from a japanese touch pool at a museum on the first page

Does anyone know where the dendros are coming out of specifically?

From what I hear there's a shortage going on in those areas due to overcollection (those stupid bass turds!). Apparently the ones from this last batch only come from that one reef. These corals grow painfully slow so who knows if they will ever be available in the US market again.

Check out all of the dendros in the bottom of this tank (japanese).

I have a few colonies of Dendros myself and to me they are extremely fast growers. I can literally see them budding right in front of my eyes!
However, they are always hungry and need to be kept fed to stay healthy. And the more you feed it, they more they need it. It's almost like giving drugs to a drug addict. If you don't, they will just decalcify and waste away. IMO, they are difficult corals to keep due to the fact the amount of food they need. But if you have the leisure, they will not put your efforts to waste. They are just soooo beautiful... This one colony of mine has over 20+ polyps big and small. |

Blastoman-are you sure that's a dendro and not a tubestrea? |

Blastomussaman, that almost looks like a VERY colorful verson of the cup corals that come on some florida aquaculture rock.
What diameter are the largest of the polyps?

Dendro for sure. Tubes are way smaller with different coloration covering the skeleton. These grow big. Big polyp skeletons w/o expansion roughly an inch or so. When expanded can reach 2" with tenticles. Then they bud out all around even on the top side walls unlike tubes.
There's another dendro species endemic to Japan with skeleton reaching 2+ inches and comes in white (yes white, not bleached), pink, & yellow polyps. I've been recently offered one but I'm hesitant because it ate one of my friends baby c. resplendens. That's why he wants it out of there. |

Okay, it's out in the open. Those are what they are. Can't believe someone knows the name....so few know. We call them Japanese Dendros because Rhizo is generally unheard of.
Told you guys, white, yellow, pink morphs. The price of that coral is now including a c. resplendens! :-). I only know them from Japan, nowhere else. These are deep, hungry corals and must be fed exotic fishes to survive! |

Holy moly cow. Mine is nothing compare to those. now my eyes can open. I wouldn't mind to pay $100 for single polyp.
