Using LR in FW tank

I am converting my SW set up to FW. Is there any issue w/ using LR in a FW set up. Do I need to clean it in a special way, & can I every reuse it for SW again after it's been in a FW set up?

Hi,

Surely you could use it. It will "dead" decorative rock in either the fresh water or the subsequent salt water use. Personally, I would bleach it thoroughly (and subsequently dechlorinate it) to remove the signficiant amount of dead organic material that will be present. Upon its return to a marine system down the line, it would not be "live" rock in any but the sense that it would have some bacteria growing on it.

No, if they were the same a fresh water dip wouuld not kill the bacteria, which it does.
