Recommended return pump for 37 gallon?

Im building my first sump and doing a slight upgrade from a 29 tall to a 37 or 40 tall.
I will drill the tank at the top, no overflow box or stand pipe.
What size overflow tube should I use for best flow? What gph return pump?
I have an aquac ev120 with a mag7 and the sump is a 20 gallon long if that is useful info.
thanks...

A good sump flow through rate is about 4-6x tank volume. So you're looking for about 200gph return rate at whatever height you're pumping to. I'd use 1" or 1.25" return piping. Maybe bigger. Def. not smaller. Maybe a Mag 5 or equivilent?

You can use the Mag 7, it will be fine. The only thing you should worry about IMO is microbubbles. Most people will say a 3-5x flow rate of the display tank is good enough and powerheads inside the display tank to make up for the turnover rate.

1" and up should be fine if u plan to drill the tank.

Run it through the Flow calculator on the home page.
