OK. For the last 5 weeks I have been feeding my Rics a small piece of Formula One once a week. They are responding really well. They are getting bigger and splitting by themselves.

My ricodia were pretty big when I got them, and after a couple of spot-feeds with frozen brine shrimp, one started splitting about a week ago. As for manually fragging them, yes, they can be cut like other mushrooms.

How do you feed it? Do you place the food on the mouth?

I've got a small frag that I would love for it to grow over a piece of rock I have.

Just place some food on it and they will close up and feed. Make sure to feed your fish during or before this otherwise they will just steal the food away.

I've fed my rics silversides, mysis, brine, flake food, and frozen formula one.

There is too much self-promotion in this article for my tastes, but it is pretty good when it comes to detailing propagating Ricordea (note the correct spelling of Ricordea, not Ricordia like it is spelled in the article),

If you have one or a few that you can bear to see mangled a bit for a while....cut a piece of the cap off and net the frag to a piece of rock with some mesh netting from the fabric store and secure it on the bottom with a rubber band....or you could just leave the frag on the sand where there is low water flow and it will attach itself when it grows it stalk to some of the substrate.

I usually just feed mine well & let them split naturally, or just try to get them to move over some rocks to "leave babies" behind.

Sometimes the natural splitting doesn't go as planned...
I have a nice blue/purple ricordea that is about 1" x 4" & has 5 mouths It starts to split, then changes it's mind...

Our Florida Ricordea Yumma we got as a single polyp from a friend a few months has grown huge and has several heads now and occasionally drops a baby with what looks to be an umbillical cord and usually seems to have a tiny piece of rock attached to the baby, we just cut the cord when it looks like it is ready to break and then place the baby with its attached tiny rock in a crevice of lower flow but still in good lighting and they seem to attach quickly

Almost all of my ricordea have atleast 2 mouths but are not completely splitting ( I have 1 that has 4 mouths ). Should I being doing something different? Or should I just cut and move them?

Will they split faster on the rock than the sandbed? It seems to me that they like to split on the rock.
