1 pump...2 pump... 3 pump... 4
This is probably one of those threads that isn't going to go very far... But I'm gonna try it anyway.
Trying to decide between 2 differing methods for flow on my new frag system. 3 - 50s (stacked, side offset sump). Started with the plan to use a mag 12 to move water top/down with 1-2 powerheads in each tank for flow. However, there's a few larger iwaki/blueline pumps around of late for reasonable prices - meaning I could use 1-2 pumps to provide all the flow for the system. Heat hasn't been an issue for me - due to cool basement - tanks run in the low 70s even with halides on and numerous pumps in tank. I like the reliability / redundancy of the single feed pump + powerheads... But obviously less maintenance / lower initial costs of a couple iwakis would be nice too... What have you guys found preferable? TIA, Andy |
