15gl frag tank questions?
I ordered a 2x55w pc retro kit and was planning on having a small frag tank for assorted zoas and other softies/LPS . I also found a rack to suspend in the water under the lights. I'm not sure exactly what size tank ill end up using, I was thinking somewhere between 10-20 gl max and concentrate the light on the top frag tray, maybe put some non photosynthetic stuff beneath. I am looking for tips on how to do this setup since I've never tried this before. what ratio of actinic to white should i use in my bulb choice? How far below the lights, which size tank, sand or bb? what kind of flow/fliltration or how would i incorporate it as part of my current setup?
Thanks in advance. Ryan

As far as light goes, white light is what is most needed for growth in corals, actinic is mainly an looks enhancment. I would recommend a tank with a large foot print and low water height. This will give you more room and more effecient light transmission. a 20 gall long, or a diy tank would be best. Sand or bb is really up to you. Filtration depends on the type of corals being grown, we will need to know more about the species you would like to grow. I hope this helps!

species i am looking to propagate are zoanthids, sinulara, xenia, GSP, Colt coral, trumpet coral, flower pots, mushrooms, frogspawn, hammer corals and similiar species. Mostly i think this would be for zoa's, i want to take frags of my most colorful varieties and grow them out to colonies for my main tank, as well as grow some stuff to trade and sell.
