it will grow on its own given you have the correct levels of calcium and mag...for calcium it is 400-450...mag..i'm not sure...as long as i keep the calcium right it seems to grow.

Some will say to use purple up...i dont like using stuff like that cuz it also adds iodine i believe it is. And if you got your calcium and mag in the right levels, there will be no reason for using it...it will grow on its own in a couple months

if you can get some scrapings from someone to seed your tank that will speed up the process.

You will have to have some coraline to begin with - it will not just start growing spontaneously. Buy some live rock with some on it.

Make sure your alk is right 2. Alk and calcium are biggest things to worry about. Your salt should supply enough mag that you should not need to supplement it.

don't rush the coraline. it'll go, just give it time.

i've never understood why people are so gaga for it to grow so fast. i hate having the stuff on my glass. it looks cool on the rock, but i prefer to fuss over corals.

yes, i was taking into consideration that jfeva prolly already has live rock or will have some, since imo its the only way to go with reefs.

but i'm kinda with joeycadre....i personally dont make too big of a deal about it. Sure it looks nice on the rocks, but its a pain to get off the glass, and if you got accrylic....thats a whole nother issue lol. But you'll have to continually scrape it off the glass to get rid of all the little spots cuz they'll look pretty weird.

But also...once you get corals in there, they're gonna cover up most of the rock anyways, so you really wont see a whole ton of it, save for the few parts of rock that are visible.

Ive had my tank for a year now, and it didn't spread much at all until the past few months. Now it has really started to take off, just be patient.
