I would stay away from the G1. If you are looking for a small ASM skimmer, get the G1x over the G1. It has a larger pump.

Why not buy a Reef Octopus? A NW150 will be MORE than you need, will outskim a G3, and run you about $140.

An RO NW 200 would not be as much as a Remora.

yeah, but its way too big and wont skim all that well on the tank. Hes better off with a 110/150.

Most likely that is correct Rich. I was intending to show the value of the Octopus line over the others. (bang for the buck)

Re: ASM G1 vs. aqua C ...55 gallon reef.

Good luck getting a straight answer on the best skimmer.
It's like talking about religion everyone likes theirs over all the rest.

Well except maybe a bubble king everyone seems to love those.

I use to run the remora's and had great luck with mine.
I guess because It was so easy. I didn't have to adjust air valves or flow. Just threw an oversize pump on it and it skimmed the hell out of my tank.

I've stuck with AquaC because of the great experience I've had with them.
So now I'm running the EV-180 on my 76g
But it's a whole different animal.
I've had to spend a lot of time getting it to skim to my liking.
But now it's a monster.

I have owned both, the Remora was not much. My G3 cost me way more than I neeeded to spend. It works great but is was a load of work and extra $$ to get it that way. I wish I would have gotten the Octo 200 to begin with,
