Question Logo Contest

This poll will close in six days!

What will the logo be used for??

- In black and white for brochures.
- A color version will probably be created for the web site.
(T-Shirts and membership cards, etc. may have a single color or full color version, whatever seems to work best for the buck.)

1) PSEUDOREEFER’s 14-year-old sister

2) Misfit6669 - Circle with Mountains, Clown, and Colorado flag “C

3) Misfit6669 - Colorado Flag “C with Clown and Snowy Letters

4) DJMod45 – RMRC letters with mountains and tang

5) FishGeek – Original Club Logo

Original Thread Text:

Logo Contest/Photo Submissions
As you might have seen (thanks to tgillespie, Umm Fish, burkleman and aurorahokie), we are working on a new website for the club. To make it look even better, we need your help. We are looking for photos and/or artwork that you would be willing to let us use. Please post or send me pictures of your tank, fish, corals, diving...!

We will also be having a logo contest. Submissions can be made for a Rocky Mountain Reef Club logo through October 31, 2005. On November 1, 2005 I will post a poll (or open a voting outlet on the new website) to choose the winner. After one week of voting, the winner will be announced. Prize will be a free premium membership to RMRC for one year.

Email submissions to cnlpearson@comcast.net or post them in this thread.

Important note to contributors:

The RMRC respects that you as the photographer/artist retain copyright to any artwork you submit. By submitting your photo/artwork for consideration, you assert that you are the sole copyright owner of your submission. You also grant the RMRC permission to use your artwork as the RMRC sees fit on their website, brochures, advertisements, etc. You also understand that the RMRC may crop, alter, touchup, etc., your submission as necessary as a part of the artwork's display. Credit lines will not necessarily appear next to your photo/artwork. All contributors will have their names listed (unless you decline) in a general section of the club website.

That is funny! I probably should have said - oval with lionfish, mountains, sand, and seafan!

I really like his sister's design (I even voted for it) but I think for a logo it might be a little too intricate.

I realize I've been gone a while and missed a lot of the changes with the club, but why do we need a new logo?

We actually lost touch with all of the old website files, etc. It wasn't until we posted the contest for the new logo that we got a copy from Brian of the original logo. We are also looking for something that will work on black and white materials in addition to the web site.

My sister said that she sent you an email on the picture. Do you need anything else? (higher resolution version, detailed directions on how to make, etc.)

Christina,

Would you consider re-starting the contest?

It looks like this original Logo only got looked at one day, and it got quite a few votes.

Regards,

Scott

Hi, Scott. Although the black & white original logo was only up for one day, the color version was posted at the same time as all other logos in this thread and was visible for the duration of the contest. It looks like I moved the color version after the contest and inadvertently broke the link. The original logo was the leader early, but actually the votes for it slowed down and the new logo picked up toward the end, so I don't think the B&W copy was a factor.

If the vote had been closer, like it was several times throughout, it would make sense to have another round of voting between the top two; but by the end, there seemed to be a significant enough preference to call the winner.

If you would like to fix the link in my post for posterity, I moved it to a "logo" subfolder in my photobucket account:

I respect the great history of this club. But I would also like to respect the opinions of the members who voted in this contest.

Thanks!

Christina,

Also, I fixed the link in your original post.

I did not know abut the link issue with the original logo, in your original posting.

Finally, how is the new RMRC Web Site coming?

Scott

I remember a little more than a year ago, when I got involved in the club, we had a website, what happened to it, and why is it taking so long to get one re-established?

Im new to this and the area but on the club website can you place a link for whose skiing or riding tomorow. That way when we decide we are gonna kick it to the mountains we can sign on and see if there is anyone else wanting to go. Do I smell carpool. this might be helpfull to those who dont have cars, need rides, or when the pass is really nasty and those uf us with nice 4wd can turn them to busses of fish freaks.

Just a thought,
Mark

Here's what my sister made for a color version - I guess she wanted it to be more colorful
