parrot scared me ****less

Ok, this morning my parrot (yellow nape Amazons) I have two. One I have had for 16 yrs the other for 4. The 4 yr old is playing and manages to wrap the rope from the toy around his neck!! I am trying to remain calm and remove it without being bitten to the bone. He is pulling and flapping all the while drawing it tighter around his neck! My 16 yr old parrot is freaking out knowing by the sounds and flapping that his buddy is in trouble. And my Yorkie who is very aware and almost human is also freaking out for me to hurry and help the baby.
I ended up cutting the rope piece and then getting it off his neck SHEESH!! What a horrific morning
He cuddled up right after, gave me kisses, said he was a "GOOOD baby bird" and then gave me a whistle.
He is now fine and resting and I allowed myself a good long cry! What if I had been at work!? This was my fault.. I noticed yesterday that the rope was getting a little frayed and it was time to switch out the toy!

Wow, talk about scary! I would have lost my mind.

I'm glad everything turned out OK, and that you have all your fingers still attached. I know what it's like to try to wrangle a scared bird.

Glad you were home. I know a lot of birds do get killed from their toys.

I know what its like too. Especially when the little pint sized featherheads look at me with that "I'm going to make you hurt" look on their face, and then C H O M P!

Yes be careful of toys. And beaks.
