It's an optical illusion I'm still having some microbubble issues and need to redo the drain and skimmer plumbing in the sump to give a longer, slower run so I can get rid of the bubbles

Otherwise the tank is running a tad on the high side, settling at around 82.5 with the lights off. I've added a fan today to see where that drops me, but I believe that there may be a chiller in my future

Were the pipes all new? I know when I used new pipes I had micro bubbles for the first week. May want to let them slime up first if the redo would be a PITA.

You might have to run a chiller, but I think you will be surprised just how much a fan will drop the temp. Over the sump of my 75 I have two clip on fans. Lights on with the fans never goes higher then 80.5, without the fans it got to 84.

We will definitely see. It's pulled the temp down 2/10 of a degree in an hour. So when I get home from the Dr. today, I should have a good idea where it sits I was going to build an acrylic mount that holds two fans over the sump, so we will see.

The plumbing shouldn't be too hard if it doesn't subside. I left all the drain lines over the sump just pressed together for easy upgrades and changes

It's looking good!

And it's a misperspective from looking down in the photos. The door knob is below the tank

Then social services comes to visit based on the anonymous tip of child abuse

It's been this way for about 5 years, there is a stopper on the door and there *was* not a ding in the wood

On a side note, I should go back to 2004 and see who it was that said that putting my tank here would cause stress and ich in my fish It was probably someone really important though, so maybe I shouldn't

Well work is interfering with tank stuff

The skimmer looks like it's finally settling in. I think all the new parts really messed with it as though it was breaking in again. Otherwise the microbubbles have subsided and everything seems to be going well. My temp issue has also settled out. I needed to ramp up the time that my wetroom is being vented. Since I increase that time quite a bit, the temp is holding between 78.3 and 78.9, no fan over the sump for two days

Hopefully I'll be able to at least get the canopy installed and trim out the tank this week, if not it will be three weeks as the work gods have no mercy

Chris: Hopefully this week! At least to have things trimmed out. I really need to get the light rack designed. The hardest part of the light rack design is going to be incorporating two different MH hoods that are slightly different widths. It's just a matter of sitting down and building the thing Plus I'm trying to debate about using 48" act lighting so that it is doubled up for 2' in the middle or go with 36" bulbs. There is reason to my madness and a valid arguement for both sides. Just need to get it done I think

It'll come together Hop. After all you gotta pay the electric bill before you can run those MH lights right?

Thanks hugoboss! I'm not sure you want me living near you. My yard has gone downhill this year. I think if I mowed I would find reefing parts hidden in the lawn

Yeah, I wanted to get a start on them this week, but it's not happening. Two finals to work on before I go away on business. I'm hoping that I can get some trim done and call it a successful week!

I'd call it successful to be as far as you are, considering your other commitments.

Good luck with the finals

Cheers

I decided to get motivated today and get some woodwork done. It's not finished, but the big pieces are in. I still have to run some decorative trim and cover some things up, support part of the tank trim and then seal the canpy. But I can live with it like this for a while

Pictures are pretty redundant, but of different angles:

And that is the way the tank will have to sit for a few weeks

But I am going to button up a few things in the wetroom tonight and tomorrow.

Thanks Todd. Actually I have training all next week and then they opened at least one supervisor position at work. The transfer form has essay questions and I was up til 2am last night. I'm over 6000 words and not done yet... And only 1-2 people will read it and determine if I should move onto the oral interview

Thanks phunkie. It's definitely not done yet, but getting there!

I elected to add a little waste collector so that I can go 2-3 days without emptying the skimmer collection cup if I have to. The collection cup holds a little over 1 gallon before it over flows which is just about 2 1/2 days of skimmate. With the cost of waste collectors, I used a Po4 reactor I will likely upgrade to the larger XP and move this one back to a Po4/carbon reactor someday...

This does not shut off the skimmer, I have to mod the skimmer for that, but it will allow a little more waste before letting the skimmate return back to the sump. This was done in case something sends the skimmer into a frenzy.

I'm going to give that woodwork the MSoA: Melev Seal of Approval.
