You doing anything for mechanical filtration? What about skimmer? And what's your flow look like?
I'm asking cos I'm moving soon and prolly will downgrade from my AP 24 to a 12 and am trying to figure out some possible specs. How long has this guy been up and running and how long have the SPS been in there?

I don't add/dose anything, and my chambers are empty except for LR. I run carbon on an occasion, but not very often and not for any length of time.

what does carbon do? how often and how much do you do water changes?

Just another way to help keep the water clean of organic wastes. It helps with the clarity of the water.
As for the water changes... depends how lazy I'm being. Sometimes I do a 4g change once a week, sometimes I do a 1g change every few days, sometimes I don't do one for an entire month. In an ideal world, you shouldn't need to do water changes to keep your water "clean." Ideally water changes would only be done to add back the minerals absorbed by corals.

Would a MJ 1200 fit back there for a return pump?

I've heard it does, but never tried/seen it.

canfield, i wouldn't suggest the MJ 1200 b/c it barely puts out more flow than the 900 while producing more heat.
i have the 900 w/ a koralia nano in mine and the flow is pretty good |

I have the MJ 1200 in my nanocube and you're right about the heat output.
I'll try the 900 and perhaps the koralia too Thanks!!

I have the 1200 in my AP and so far have had no problems with temp changes. My temp stays right around 77.9. If I drop the temp on the heater, it will drop. So, my thinking is that it is not causing the water to go above the 77* mark. This allowing me to lower it/raise it as needed to keep the water where I want it.
