red\pink open brain questions
I jsut recieved my first open brain, and was wondering if you could give me some common care tips to help it. I havent seen it realse any sweeper tentacles ( spelled wrong) so can i just put food into his mouth when it is open. and is so what kind? also i have him higher up in the tank as i only have 5 watts a gallon. Can he live on my rocks, and under this lighting. thanx in advance

150 watts? Metal Halide? If so, they actually don't like getting blasted, ime; would be preferable on tank bottom with room to stretch- they inevitably fall off rock as they expand/retract- tentacles stay retracted much of the time- they extend well a minute or two after food has been in water, can accept little bits of meaty food, every other day or so, spot fed w/turkey baster- hope this helps-

They tend to like meaty food. I feed mine mysis, squid, krill, and on occasion flake food(its favorite, but makes a mess). Your lighting should be fine. Don't put food directly into the mouth. Try laying a pinch of flake food on the disk close to a mouth. You may have to kill the flow while doing it. It should respond. Also look for the tenicles to be out right after the lights go out.
