Question Fathead Sunburst Anthias

Recently got a chance to see this beautiful fish in person and I fell in love. I've heard that they are very delicate and don't really like bright lights since they are deep water fishes.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody have any experience to share?

As far as I know it is best to only keep one per tank. As with many Anthias, as you said, they don't like bright lights but they will get used to it. They can be a little skittish. They like to hide in caves, often upside down.
When they were first discovered the were classified as a hawkfish. Only (relatively) recently were they correctly classified as Anthias.
I have never kept one but it will be my next purchase. They are a lovely fish.
If you get one please PM me with any advise on intergrating them.

I have 1! Actually, it's the 2nd one that has survived after the death of the 1st. I can say for a fact that this fish will stay at the ill-lighted area of the tank. Mine rarely venture to the front of the tank where I usually view but prefer to stay at the back of the rockwork, hovering at an area very near the rocks. The 1st ones I've bought was a larger species but didn't survived but the 2nd one I had is smaller than the 1st and he's been with me for nearly a year now if I'm not wrong. I fed it with cyclopeeze and mysid shrimp.

Sorry to Hi-jack the thread but BFG - I often order dry goods from Singapore. I use Reef Depot and Aqua Marin. Can you recommend any other good online Reef shops which will deliver to Thailand. Please PM me.

I've kept multiple over the years. As with any fish it helps if they are eating prior. I currently have two and they eat everything that goes into my tank and in no way they seem to be shy.
They live in a 200 with 10 other anthias of all kinds.
Good luck and happy reefing.[/IMG]

cateyes, I love the look of your tank! Those rics are really nice. I just got my 1st fathead today (from Petco of all places). Wish me luck with him.

I have one, swims all over the tank regardless of high light areas or not. Eats everything I feed (mysis shrimp, cyclopeze, prime reef flake etc.) except for algae flake. Gorgeous fish and a perfect addition to my tank.

I have tried them several times with nooooooo luck! It ****es me off because I love the little guys. I like to think that I've just been getting ones that haven't been collected correctly. They seem to be the Holy Grail for me. Oh and cateyes, your tank looks awesome.
