R/O DI Unit question

Do I have to have the "6th" stage carbon filter for "taste and smell" after the RO Membrane and DI? It seems to me like it is mainly used for drinking water. I want to save these for my R/O drinking water unit.

Thanks!

Carbon is a MUST before the R/O membrane to prevent damage, but more of a personal preference afterwards.

That is there strictly for drinking water, toss it it adds TDS back into the treated water and is detrimental.
