If they are reds....you can send some to me

I take care of my green mushrooms with the same thing that I take care of Aptasia with. They just shrivel up after an injection.

Place rubble around them and trade them in to your LFS when new ones attach to the rubble

I apologize for jumping on your thread but I have the same problem. I have tons of shrooms on some really big rocks that I would like to get rid of. I'd be willing to keep some of them but I don't want all of them.

Also, any tips on getting rid of green star polyps?

Give them to me.

The rubble method is when you place small pieces of live rock near the colony so that they start growing on that piece instead of the large piece they are already on. Then simply just lift them up (or cut them out) of place, spread, sell, enjoy. But more importantly give to me.

I have my whole tank "infested" with mushrooms. I ended up selling all the rock (( and I mean ALL )) and getting new rock. I will never put them in my tank again, along with GSP, and yellow polyps in my tanks again.

Here are some pictures before I sold them.

how do i get the rubble to stay around the mushroom? they're kind of vertical, and just by putting it around them they'll climb onto the rubble? i'm a little confused about this method. and if i used a razor blade to cut them off wouldn't another one just grow in it's place assuming i don't get it all off? thanks so much for the suggestions!

sabazerehi - Haha I had this same problem one time. The honest truth is you can never get rid of them. I tried juicing them, cutting them off, chopping at them. Even the smallest piece will become an obnoxious shroom! If you really dont like them trade the whole rock or sell it.

Razor blade method didn't work for me. I cut some off, and the slightest bit of the remaining foot grew back. There is no way the razor blade could get in the crevases of the rock to get all of the foot.

100th post.

I love mushrooms! Ill take some too...
And as far as managing their population, all you need to do is take a sharp pair of sizzors to the ones needing to be thinned out.Be selective like pruning a flower garden : ) Place the cuttings on rubble till their attatched and then trade them into your LFS for whatever (or give them to us~lol)

I was going to say, a big colony of generic yellow polyps is very underrated. Those are awesome.

If you think that is your dream tank you ought to see mine. Mine is even more infested.

One way I have found to get rid of the shrooms (and probably everything else on the rock) I used a kalk paste and covered all of the shrooms on the rock. A day later all the shrooms were dead. I am changing my tank to an all SPS and can't really have a good SPS tank with a bunch of Softies.
