What is this polyp?

Does anyone know what this is? It is about a little under half an inch in diameter.

Palythoa. Related to zoanthids.

Looks like palythoa. I have some myself, they're pretty neat because of their large size and mine have the white/gold speckling with green sheen like how yours look as well.

Yes Palythoa, Note it multiply. Had a couple eight months ago now I have five or six. The larger has reached about 2+ inches in diameter.

So would I be considered lucky this grew out of my rock or should I get rid of it. Also does Palythoa close up into a ball if something touches it. Thanks

Yup, that's a Palythoa as mentioned above. They are very common hitchikers on Liverock. You should be happy you found it, it's a free coral.

Just do a search on them for more information. They are related to Zoanthids, as Python73 said, so that should help you find some more information.

That's a bold statement. Palythoa come in a wide range of colors, brown and green both being common. Most likely that polyp will stay the color it is now.

What WILL happen is that it will send out creepers that grow into new polyps, and you will have them all over that rock. The good news is that palythoa grow much slower than zoanthids in general. So as long as you like the look of it, be happy you got a cool freebie.

The problem is when you don't want them any more. They are difficult to eradicate.

Your second post are clearly mushrooms. Hard to say if they are yumas or not from the pic, you'd need a closeup of the mouth to tell.

Arguably one of the most toxic creatures on the face of the earth. A warning about toxicity. A MUST read.
