AWI RO/DI Unit Group Buy

It looks as though most people would be interested in pursuing units from air, water and ice; so I think that that's the route we'll be going. I'm looking at the TYPHOON III for myself.

Here are the exact specifications of the offer:

You can order anything you want from the site, we just need to meet the minimum buy-in requirements. I have also included another group that I participate in toward this buy so I do not foresee a problem making the minimum purchase amount of $900 to earn the 15% discount, but it would be great if we could generate enough interest to be eligible for the 20% discount.

If you are TRULY interested in participating in this group buy, please reply with the item(s) that you are interested in as soon as possible so that I have a better idea of what our ultimate group discount will be.

Thanks!

Jon

Depending on how the garage sale goes, I will probably pick up a guage and TDS meter... but that won't really add much to your bottom line.

FYI> We're only a couple hundred dollars from the minimum buy-in to achieve the 20% discount at this point.

I'm interested in buying a unit, just trying to decide if the Extreme version is worth the added investment. Can anyone chime in on this?

hmm, 20% off...I'm getting tempted to take the plunge as well.

20% off the Extreme Typhoon III would drop the $270 to $216... plus they are in Florida so no tax, right?

Who is getting extra resin and how much? Any idea what the shelf life is for this stuff? I'd probably get extra with this order, too.

Jon, when do you want to place this order?

I'd probably be placing the order, if all goes well, toward the end of next week.

The best way to pick a proper water filtration system is to first test your supply water. You also need to know if your water dept uses chlorine or chloramine. In most cases a good 1 micron sediment filter and the correct carbon will do the trick. You just need to change them on a regular basis.

If you are looking for pure h2o, then the RO/DI system is what you want. Just remember that you are removing a number of elements that are good for your aquarium and that will need to be added back to the water, for example buffers to control pH.

Ask yourself what you want to remove from your tap water and then see if your tap water contains these elements. Then build a system that will do the job you want. About the only unwanted element you want to remove from your tap water is phosphate and you would need a RO unit to do that effectively. I have not found phosphate in most tap water systems.

I sure hope it is. I'll be trying to get firm commitments established this week so that I know which discount we qualify for. If everyone that exxpressed interest participates then we should reach the minimum to acheive the 20% off. but I need to know who's truly interested before I can proceed.

For those that are on the fence for this group buy, I've had the Typhon III for 2.5 years.

The unit has worked flawlessly since day one. I'm in a low TDS area; so, I've never have even had to have changed filter and my TDS output is still 000.

I had a washing machine hose adaptor when I bought it. They sent out a replacement, no questions asked.

Hope you're as happy with yours as I've been.

Best of luck,

Roy

So...I have a bit of a timing problem on my end with regard to the proposed group buy. I'm having surgery on September 10th, and was told to expect to be incapacitated for 4-6 weeks following that procedure. Given that timeline, I don't see how I will be able to adequately coordinate the order, purchase, and subsequent delivery. Sorry. I guess I was just being naive in relation to what I would be able to accomplish during the period of my recovery.

It is my hope that someone will step up and continue with this process so that those in need can still proceed with their purchases. I can forward all emails and replies related to this group buy to anyone interested in taking charge to aid in facilitating this order.

Just let me know...

It just never really got off the ground. I was just starting to gauge people's interest toward making an order when I had to have surgery on my shoulder. I had hoped someone else would move forward with it but I guess that didn't happen so the topic died.

BTW-I still need a unit, so if someone else wants to coordinate a buy I'd be in...

I don't mind placing the order if everyone is OK with picking up in ELK GROVE 95624 and PAYING with CASH ONLY (i don't take credit cards OR paypal).

So far we have:

1. C4SxM5 (ME) $269.95/$229.46
2. D&KSac (+ Y adapter) $269.95 + $6.25/$234.77
3. jeffmperez (if we get the 20% discount) $269.95/$229.46
4. shiveley $269.95/$229.46

JJ4417 (maybe)

As of right now that would give us the 15% discount, so if everyone is OK with that please let me know and I can place the order on FRIDAY the 11th (hopefully we get 4 more people to commit and we can get the 20% discount).
