Unhappy Time to say goodbye to the giant gold leather coral!

I have had this gold crown leather for a long time now, and it has finally just gotten too large for my tank. It has been the centerpiece of my display and I am going to miss it badly, but I can't accommodate its growth any longer!

Here's some history!

Here he was in June of 06 shortly after moving to the 180 from my old 55:

Here is was still smaller, from Sept 06:

My favorite part was the crazy long trunk left as evidence of his climb to the top of the rock, photo from April 07:

Here's the most recent shot of the crowded quarters from this month!

And just for giggles, here's the full tank shots to see how truly huge it is in a 180!

I am hoping it already has a home in a larger tank. I'll be pulling the rock out this weekend. Be prepared for lots of breakage frags to be available. lol

why not frag it and keep a smaller one?

btw, your tank is GORGEOUS!

I sent you a pm a while back about T5's, did you get it?

As a friend who has grown accustomed to seeing this coral in your tank my vote is to frag and keep it.

It is so beautiful, I hope it finds a good home! I see the neon green in the pic, I can BELIEVE how fast its grown for you!

Thanks The neon green is growing real quick and will probably have to move up to take its place.

I have given a lot of thought to fragging it, and I just couldn't do it. I hack/break/saw/and cut corals all the time but this would be too much.
The real problem is finding room for all the little pieces to heal.

My goal is to sell the whole rock that it is on as a show piece. Then I will take my purple sponge rock from the 20 and put it in its place. There are at least 5 other corals having discussion about the available real estate.

The tank will never be the same without it though!

Tiff...if ya can't find a taker for the whole rock, you can peel the leather off. I've done it and they peel off pretty clean.

Dam it sure is pretty but no way I could take it it would be cruel to keep it in anything less then what it is in now. Very pretty nice long pylops

It's even better in person! That piece was definitely the center piece. Sorry to hear Tiffanie. Wow, you'll need to find someone with realllly big tank! Your toad is huge!!

Wow ! Did I start this on Staurday ?

I love that thing, but let's face it. Space is more valuable in your tank than the upper east side in NY.

That is definitely a show piece.

THe Neon will replace it, though.

Nope, it started because I have to tear the tank up to get out the rogue BTA. If I have to pull the rock out anyway, there is no better time to also rehome the leather.

There are some very valuable corals stuck in corners and at risk for being pistol shrimp building material.

That and Bill said it was OK. LOL (I don't think he has forgiven me for getting rid of the xenia and GSP tree!) ((I am kidding of course))

At the moment I believe it is already sold, if that falls through, I'll post a sale thread. After the RBTA thread, I am not going to post prices here!!

No kidding... I've had sick kids (pneumonia) and other stuff going on so I've been away for the past couple of weeks. The first thread I read was the RBTA thread and I wondered why I came back!

Beautiful leather - I hope you find it a great home!

Jen
