yikes! I don't know what it is, but how'd you miss that in the store? Honestly, I'd bag it up and bring it back immediately...unless you're the guy that likes to bring home sick puppies and lost kittens. If that's the case, you probably also want to try to nurse this guy back to health. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I think I will take my chance of nursing him...I dont wanna put that much extra stress by taking him back..looks like it might have been a wound and its healing over

Do you have other fish in there? The reason I ask is two fold. It seems to be in your main system and not in quarentine, if that's the case, if it is a disease and not a healing wound, then it could infect other fish or even if it's a healing wound, then it is very susceptible to anything that may be in your tank that the other stronger fish are able to fight off. Judging from your last pic, I think you may be right and it's probably a wound that will eventually heal, but you may want to bring these pix to the store that you bought it and let them know that you hadn't noticed it and will try to nurse it back to health as it's better off in your system than theirs, but if it dies will they give you another one?

Damn, that is one nasty wound. You can actually see in the picture how far it extends into the side of the fish. It looks like an ulcer, but it could also be a "stab wound" from a tank mate or predator. I would advise the store you bought it from, but as previously mentioned, it is better off in your tank now. The added stress from another move could kill it. Give the fish a lot, i repeat A LOT of food, and as the fish acclimates and gains health it should recover.

lol don't worry, neither do I. Good luck though, fish are pretty resiliant. I have a Blue/green Chromis that jumped and hit his head on my eggcrate and got a nice gash in it, it healed up in about 3 weeks and now you can't even tell he hurt himself and he didn't get any infections. Just be diligent on your water changes so it doesn't get infected.
