can anyone id this??

this things started poppin up in my tank. at first they were a few now there seems to be more and more. when i do water changes i take a powerhead and blast them off the rock to keep their numbers down. they seem to have some sort of duster lookin thing at the tip of them. are they good or bad for the tank??

look like little feather dusters to me.... I guess they could be some species of hydroids... but I'd leave them alone and let them run their course.

Definitely fan worms. I have these. They are just harmless filter feeders.

so do they have any benefits in cleaning the water? do they prevent coraline growth?

They don't do much, really. If you think they're ugly, remove them.
