Need help w/ converting my lights

I have a 48" aluminum hood that hangs over my 55g. The canopy has 2 175w mh and 2 110 vho. My wife just bought me a nice new tank stand that has a canopy. I need to know how to go about switching from the hood to the canopy.

I appreciate any info!

I would disassemble the fixture and setup the components in the canopy as I wanted them. This isn't easy, you need to have UV protected glass between the light and the water, as well as ample space so that there is less heat transfer.

When I go for a larger tank, I am gonna buy several small MH fixtures (with glass and their own protective case) and install those within the canopy with supplimental PC lights and lots of fans!

the MH bulbs only need the UV glass(tempered) if its a DE bulb, SE bulbs are fine, but you shoud still use some sort of splash guard so water wont crack the bulb

you could try selling the canopy and buying retrofits?

it would probably be alot easier then trying to take apart some vast electrical wiring mess
