Check out the recommended tank size for various species on Dr. Roy's list: http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthrop...raca/royslist/
Note that volumes are listed in liters, not gallons. There are 3.8 gallons per liter so divide the listed number by 4 to get a quick approximation of the number of suggested gallons.

Tom deco is acrylic which can easily scratch. i chose the JBJ 3g Picotope instead. I dont have my mantis in it but love the tank/lighting/filtration setup.

I was looking at the picotope but I like the dimensions of a tom deco. Do you have mantis?

Yes. A 3.5" male peacock in a 10 gallon. He has plenty of room. Just give them some live rock and rubble to play with.

I have an Eclipse 12 that I did some mods on the be more efficient for saltwater.
I don't have a mantis in that tank- but I plan on keeping that tank cycled and ready in case I find another smaller species mantis that I want to buy. I would not hesitate to put a suitable mantis in there. The acrylic seems to scratch pretty easy- so you have to be careful about that when cleaning. But my 5 others tanks are glass- so it may just be acrylic in general that I do not prefer.
But I would love to get a g. smithii, or n. wennerai to put in there. Once we get the livestock moved over to our 20 gallon- I will keep it running and ready- just in case.
I have a male g. ternatensis in another nano- and they are awesome critters. I love to watch how they feed, swim/move, how they observe everything- their eyestalks are amazing. And the colors are so interesting! It is too bad that mantis have some of the bad rep that they do because they are so interesting!
