red slime alge?

what causes red slime alge,not enough circulation?,to high phosphate?,my tank has been set up for 6 months now and im having new alge growth of a brown/green velvet on some of my rocks,the turbo snails eat it,but on some areas of tank,red slime alge is a problem,not causing any coral problems yet but would just like some feed back,thanks!

More details please:
What skimmer? What pumps/powerheads? RO/DI water? Phosban reactor? How much you feeding? Livestock? CUC? How often do you do water changes? What are your parameters?

Run skimmer wet. Get a Phosban reactor. Get chaeto (macro algae). Don't overfeed. Do water changes at least 10% weekly.

Turn out the lights for 3 days, then 4th day do actinics only, then 5th day back to normal. This will give you a head start once you have everything else in order.

Oh... and don't use chemical treatments unless your tank is at least a year old (even then I wouldn't do it to my tank).
