L bracket ideas for hanging lights over a rimless tank.

I had an idea for a lighting bracket, and then I found exactly what I wanted manufactured by Elos, but they are asking an outrageous amount so I'm back to the drawing board. I envision a 5 to 6 foot tall rod that is bent in an L shape or an arced L shape and which would attach to the back of the aquarium stand via half loop brackets and allow the PFO lights to hang over the tank.

Has anyone seen such an animal or know of a bird feeder or mailbox hanger that might fit the bill?

Thanks as always.

Joe

P.S. I am working on a new rimless tank and do not want to hang the lights from the ceiling or use a hood.

what about shelf L brackets that mount to the wall? Or does that idea fall under "ceiling"?

If you know an electrician or someone with a conduit bender you could buy rigid electrical conduit have them bend it for you and attach it just like you want to with conduit straps. I have seen threads where people have done the exact same thing. I'll see if I can find those threads and post a link in a few minutes.

Yeah, that counts as "ceiling" because I'm envisioning being able to rotate the round rod brackets left or right for easy access over the tank. I'm thinking of 2 36 inch PFO fixtures over a 48 inch wide tank. So being able to pull one or the other 90 degrees to one side would be ideal.

Thanks for the thought though

Joe

I knew you guys would come through! That's exactly what I'm looking for to a Tee. Now to find a willing electrician . . .

Thanks for the idea!

Way awesome!

Great links! That's exactly what I had in mind - all the way down to the swinging arm - now I just have to figure out how to "powder coat" black a piece of conduit so it matches the PFO fixture and I'll be all set.

Thanks again.

Joe

P.S. Send me a PM if you want a free frag of Oregon Tort
